German A2 Lesson
Nebensätze (Subordinate Clauses)
Learn to connect ideas using weil, dass, and wenn with correct verb-final word order.
Nebensätze (subordinate clauses) add extra information to the main sentence. In German, they change the word order!
The Rule
When a sentence starts with a subordinating conjunction like weil (because), dass (that), or wenn (if/when), the conjugated verb goes to the very end.
Examples:
Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank bin.
Ich hoffe, dass das Wetter morgen gut wird.
Ruf mich an, wenn du Zeit hast.
Tipp : Word Order
- Main Clause: Subject + Verb + Object. Subordinate Clause: Conjunction + Subject + Object + Verb.
