Reflexive Verben

Learn how to conjugate and use reflexive pronouns like mich, dich, and sich.

Reflexive verbs show that the subject is performing the action on itself.

Reflexive Pronouns (Accusative)

ich ... mich (myself)
du ... dich (yourself)
er/sie/es ... sich (himself/herself/itself)
wir ... uns (ourselves)
ihr ... euch (yourselves)
sie/Sie ... sich (themselves/yourself formal)

Common Reflexive Verbs

sich freuen (to be happy / look forward to)
sich waschen (to wash oneself)
sich beeilen (to hurry)

Example Contexts

Ich wasche mich. (I wash myself.)
Wir freuen uns auf den Urlaub. (We look forward to the vacation.)
Du musst dich beeilen! (You must hurry up!)
